             Amos Hattaway, Jr., 95, of Hemet, passed away Sunday, April 30, at Loma Linda University Hospital. Memorial Services are open to the public and will be held Saturday, May 27 at 2:00p.m. at the Elks Club in Hemet.

            Mr. Hattaway was born October 19, 1921 in Mitchell, GA and was the son of the late Amos A. Hattaway and the late Alice Hadden Hattaway. He served in the United States Navy from 1939 until 1960, on board the U.S.S. Phillippine Sea, the U.S.S. Rendova, and the U.S.S. Chenango, as well as being stationed at Naval bases in New York, South Carolina, Washington and California. After retiring from the Navy, he worked as Director of Operations at the Manhattan Beach School District from 1961 until his retirement in 1982. He was married to Rebecca Green Hattaway until her passing in 1998. Afterward, he met and married Barbara Depover Hattaway in 2001 and remained with her until her passing in 2004.

            Mr. Hattaway is survived by his love, dearest friend, and long time companion, Virginia Brien, also of Hemet; and by his son, Shannon Hattaway; his daughter-in-law, Chelsea Hattaway; his granddaughters, Kelsi and Riley Hattaway; and his grandson, Patrick Hattaway; also by Virginia's daughter, Lori Van Arsdale; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.
