Carl Edward Marana

February 16, 1929 ~ September 16, 2017 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Carl Edward Marana was born February 16, 1929 in Danville, Illinois.  He had 9 siblings and lived on Harmon Ave. most of his childhood.  He entered the reserves in the 40’s and returned home with an honorable discharge for medical reasons.  He met his wife Freeda at a church meeting and they were married in Danville, Illinois at the pastor’s parsonage in May 1950. Carl and Freeda had 9 children all born in Danville, Illinois.  Carl moved his family to Hemet, California in 1969 and also lived in Vista, California for 28 years before returning to Hemet.

Carl was an independent thinker and was a jack-of-all-trades.  He taught himself refrigeration/AC and knew how to fix most anything in a home.  He worked on rental properties for most of his married life as well as holding a full-time job.  He was a member of the sheet metal union for many years. Carl was a simple man, he loved God and attended church every opportunity he had.  He cared deeply about providing for his family’s needs and enjoyed being at every family event. He enjoyed playing the piano, organ and banjo and singing.  One of his favorite songs was, The Rose of Sharon.  This song had a double meaning as it refers to Jesus as well as his departed daughter Sharon.  In the earlier years of his marriage, when his children were young, Carl and his wife Freeda would sing at various country churches in Danville, Illinois.

On September 16, 2017 in Hemet, California, Carl passed away. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, children, family and friends.

Preceding Carl in death are his parents, Mansour Marana and Hazel Marana; daughter, Sharon Marana who passed at the age of 4 days old; siblings, Robert Marana, John Marana, Madella Thatcher, Marie Willis and Doris Marana.

To forever cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Freeda Marana; 8 children, Rachel Marana, Naomi Cade, Esther Wong, Elias Marana, Michael Marana, Starla Ortiz, Daniel Marana and Carla Norton; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 4 siblings, Paul Marana, Frank Marana, Tom Marana and Lu Podolor; as well as many other family members and friends.
