Christine Michelle Shewmake was born in Alton, Illinois the third child of Michael and Barbara Shewmake. She had Two brothers Donald, Timothy and a sister Becky. Her childhood was a happy one with an abundance of love. She met her future husband Paul in Dana point, Ca in 1991. They had a son, Tyler, in San Clemente on July 28, 1993. The family moved a few times before settling in Oceanside, Ca in 1998. Paul and Chris married in the fall of 2002 she then becoming Christine Smit.

Shortly after the marriage they had a daughter, Emma, in 2002. Shortly after the birth of their daughter Paul and Chris moved to Hemet, Ca where they stayed until her untimely death in 2017. Christine had lived a full life even though it was cut short, her husband Paul would agree that they many good times and adventures while they were together. Chris loved to lose herself in one of her many books. She made many friends easily and her loyalty was abounding. We are comforted in knowing Saint Peter will open the gates for her the moment she appears.
