Welcome to the memorial page for

Daphne Zelva (Gant) Roddey

May 27, 1957 ~ February 2, 2017 (age 59) 59 Years Old

Daphne Zelva Roddey was born on Monday, May 27, 1957 in Los Angeles, California.  She entered heavens gates on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 11:30 am at the Menifee Valley Medical Center.  She was the beloved wife of David Roddey.  Daphne was the daughter of  the late Robert Gant and the late Gloria Brown.  She is survived by 3 children, LaKisha Gant, Pierre Drew and Asley Williams; 8 grandchildren, Janae Elmore, Seth Ewing, Aajanae Wicker, Ayanna Drew, Areanna Drew, Amariya Drew, Sarah Whiting and Azaria Drew; 4 sisters, Robin Flowers, Candice Brown, Traci Zamora and Amber Gant; 1 brother, Leonard Gant; step-father, Clifford Brown; 5 nephews and a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins and close friends.

Daphne was a God-fearing woman and an incredible person.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.  She loved spending time with her family and of course, her grandkids.  She had a huge heart and she was a giver.  She would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it.  Daphne was also a fighter.  From childhood to the 55+ she could cuss and fuss with the best of them.  Daphne Roddey was a true character, a free spirit and she lived life per her own rules.

To know her was to love her and to be loved by her was a blessing.  Daphne will be remembered for her character, her giving heart, and her loving soul.  She will be missed by all that had the pleasure to know her.

To Those I Love & Those Who Love Me

When I am gone, release me, let me go.  I have so many things to see and do.

You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears, be happy that we had so many years.

I gave you my love, you can only guess, how much you gave to me in happiness.

I thank you for the love each of you have shown, but now it's time I travel on alone.

So grieve awhile for me, if grieve you must, then let your grief be comforted by trust.

It's only for a little while that we must part, so keep the memories within your heart.

I won't be far away, for life goes on.

So if you listen with your heart, you’ll hear all of my love around soft and clear.

And then, when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile and say,

"Welcome Home."
