Rian E. Monroe

November 25, 1980 ~ January 17, 2017 (age 36) 36 Years Old
On Tuesday, January 17, 2017, in Hemet, California the West family suffered a heartbreaking loss. Our beloved daughter and sister, Rian, passed away in her sleep. We may never know the cause, but it was totally unexpected.

Rian was born on November 25, 1980 in Loma Linda, California to Rohn and Lori West.  She graduated from Hemet High in 1999 as a third generation graduate and continued her education at both MSJC and Cal Lu. In 2007 she received her Bachelor’s Degree from Ashford University. Rian worked in Advertising for 3 years.  She was a member of Clan MacColin (an educational trade group) for over 5 years.  She assisted with the Renaissance faire for many years. Rian was a true “Renaissance Woman”, her pastimes included crocheting, music, theater, sewing (she loved making costumes), micro-farming, and computer designing (she loved creating invitations and other printing materials). She had an “If there is a will, there is a way” kind of personality.

As many know, Rian was plagued with health problems her whole life, but she was a fighter. There are too many aliments to list, but the most damaging was her battle with Bi-Polar disorder. At times, her emotions and behavior were all over the place. One minute she would be fine, the next so depressed that she wanted to do nothing but sleep. On the flip side she would be bright and manic, spending money she didn't have on things she didn't need. She was on a continual roller-coaster that wouldn't let her off.

In November 2017, Rian seemed to turn a corner. We don't know what triggered it, but she was starting to come alive again. She had plans and was happier than we've seen her in a long time. She treasured our family tamale night and bowling at her cousin's 40th birthday. Rian was excited about taking her dad to get hearing aids and was scheduled to do so on the Tuesday morning that she passed away. This is why her passing is so hard to understand. It appeared that she was on her way up and suddenly departed this earthly life.

Rian’s life will forever be remembered by her loving parents, Rohn West & Lori West, her siblings, Daniel (Emily) West, Bradley (Jenafer) West, Megan West, Rohn E. (Elizabeth) West, Jeffrey West, Randal (Cecilia) West, and Earl West; her father's siblings, Randal West, Stacey Bailey, and Danica Wood;  her mother's siblings, Sharon Bustos, Anita George, and Mark McKee, as well as a multitude of cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Memorial donations may be sent to Hemet High Thespian Troupe 4015.
