Dick passed away at home in Hemet, California April 2, 2017 at the age of 88 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Glendale, California on March 11, 1929 to Etha and George Rufener.  Dick graduated from John Marshall High School. 

In 1947 he met his love of his life Imogene Carl and they eloped in Yuma, Arizona.  At the time Dick was in the Marine Reserves. Their first daughter Carol was born and he was called to active duty and was shipped out to Korea. After serving two years, he was Honorably  Discharged. In 1953 they were blessed with their second daughter Donna and they purchased their first new home in the San Fernando Valley. In 1954 they were the proud parents of their third daughter Susan.

Dick retired as Vice President from Anthony Glass, an international glass refrigeration company at the age of 60. He always loved going to his cabin that he built in Pine Mountain. He was an avid golfer, deep sea fisherman, traveled to many parts of the world and was a master wood craftsman.

He is survived by his brother, Robert; sister-in-law, Dodie; three daughters, Carol, Donna (David Wright) and Susan (Gary Woods); eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Rufener.
