Betty Lea Stimmel, age 92, passed away in Hemet, California on Thursday June 29, 2017.  She was born on May 25, 1925 in Kansas, moved to California as a child, and lived in Hemet for the past 30 years.  She was married to Bill Stimmel for nearly 70 years, who preceded her in death in 2012.  She is survived by her two sons, Don Stimmel of Hot Springs, South Dakota, and Glen Stimmel of South Pasadena, California, four grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. 

Upon Bill’s retirement, Bill and Betty spent almost 20 years traveling the country on 4-6 month trips in their fifth wheel.  She was an active member of the Hemet Nazarene Church, and co-founded the church’s WOW group, a lay support group for widows.  She only saw the best in people, and was always there to run errands and drive friends to their medical appointments across southern California up until her 90th year.  Her family greatly appreciates that in her final two years, her many church friends returned that generosity by doing the same for her. 

At Betty’s request, no service was held except for a celebration of her life during the Sunday morning church service on July 2, 2017 at the Hemet Nazarene church.
