Tribute

Catherine Mae Parker
Born June 10, 1932
Passed Away March 2, 2021

With great sadness, our beautiful wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all, passed away peacefully, with her husband, Parker, by her side.
Cathy was born in Inglewood, CA in 1932 to Easter Mae Mason Rodier and Edward Richard Rodier. During WWII, her family was stationed in Canada. She lived in Banff Springs, Alberta, and Victoria, British Columbia. After the war, her family returned to California and settled in Long Beach.
Cathy met her lifelong love, Parker, in Sunday school and they dated while attending Jordan High School together. In the beginning of their relationship, they discussed how they wanted to live their lives, including raising a family and traveling. Their plan was nearly perfect. Married in 1951, Cathy and Parker were blessed with four boys; twins Steven and Bruce, followed by Todd and Christopher.
Cathy’s unwavering generosity began early in her life with community work with local department stores, Rainbow Girls, and Lions Club Fair (where she was crowned Queen). While raising her sons, Cathy continued giving her time to Tustin Women’s Club as well as the Assistance league, not only in Tustin, but later in Hemet.
Always positive and loving, she has left us all in wonder of her many, many creative talents. Art, quilts, patterns, knitting, crochet, miniature houses, tole painting, cake decorating, marzipan fruit, sugared Easter and Christmas decorations. We remain in awe of her creative spirit.
With her extraordinary talents flourishing, she looked for a quilt shop, but the closest was in Ontario. An award-winning quilter, she took her talents and opened “The Quilting Bee” in Hemet. It was a great success for 12 years. Always wanting to give back to the community, she founded the Hemet Valley Quilters Guild, followed by The Hemet Valley Quilting Show, a non-profit organization where the founders paid their own way allowing thousands of dollars in profits being donated each year to kids in need in the Hemet Valley.
It was then time for the couple to hit the road to travel. Cathy and Parker enjoyed their R.V. for many years, crossing every state in the union, apart from Alaska, and the east and west coast of Canada.
Cathy is survived by her husband of 70 years, Parker, her (4) children: Steve (wife, Judy); Bruce (wife, Connie); Todd (wife, Angela); and Christopher (wife, Kerry) and their families: (6) grandchildren: Travis (wife, Megan), Claire (husband, Trevor Taylor) , Brooke (husband, Tyler Clegg), Robyn, Kelcey (husband, Braeden Storkersen) and Garrett (wife, Mollie); (6) great grandchildren, Ayla, Ella, Kenley, Emilia, Hunter, and Madison; her sister, Janet Fernald, (3) nieces, (3) grandnieces, (3) grandnephews, and her beloved King Charles, Honey.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Hemet Valley Quilters Guild, P.O. Box 2543, Hemet, CA
