Ethel Mary Bovee was born August 3, 1925, as the sixth child of Charles E. and Bertha H. Bovee, on a from in Marshall County, Iowa. She as delayed in school from an early illness and graduated in the Marshall high School class of 1945, with her sister Ruth. Ethel met Lowell Stiles during her fifteen plus years at Kresge's Variety. They married April 9, 1960, in Newton, Iowa. the couple moved to California and settled in Hemet. Later Ethel retired as a manager at a local lady's dress shop. Ethel was 1) a devoted sister. She saved her sister Ruth from drowning in the Iowa River, then did Ruth's chores so she wouldn't get in trouble. Then, took over Cora's chores after one winter sledding, Cora went through a barbed wire fence! 2) A great organizer. She compiled an extensive genealogy of the family. 3) A great navigator. Family quote "No one ever got lost with Aunt Ethel". And 4) Ethel remembered every detail of every family story until Alzheimer's interfered.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Ada, Grace, Betty Cora and Ruth, brothers Homer and Fred. She was survived by 4 nieces and 5 nephews who thanked all at The Village, who took care of Ethel like family.
