Karl Manfred Store
Mr. Karl Manfred Store, 101 (just six days shy of 102), went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and the love of his life, Elizabeth “Betty” Store, on Tuesday, March 26, 2019. He passed away peacefully in his home at The Sterling Inn in Victorville, California.
Karl has lived an incredibly long and full life. Born in Starbuck, Minnesota to parents John and Elin from Sweden on April 1, 1917, he was one of six children. He went on to enlist in the Army in 1940, spent five years serving, and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant while fighting in World War II. During this time, he was on leave in California and met his Sweetheart, Betty Saunders. He married Betty on May 17, 1942. They had four children and were happily married for 60 years, until the time of her death, December 18, 2002. Karl’s life was spent as a servant to others: as a father, an employee, and for the church and faith in which he believed. He spent over thirty years as a Grocery Store Manager serving the community, twenty-five years as a Eucharist Minister and twenty-two years in the Knights of Columbus serving his faith, and finally, over seventy years with American Legion serving the nation.
Karl is survived by his children, Gayle Hill, Jim Store, Jeanne Copps, and Karyl Jones, his nine grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
