Susan Elizabeth Stinson

April 14, 1942 ~ April 7, 2023 (age 80) 80 Years Old

Tribute

Age 80, transitioned to her forever home on Good Friday, April 7th, 2023. Susan was born in Los Angeles, CA on April 14, 1942, & grew up with her parents Maurice and Dolly Reimer, who later moved to Hemet and became pioneers of the Hemet Valley. Susan graduated from North Hollywood High School in 1959 & went on to complete a few years of college before starting her career as an R.N. & Admitting Supervisor at Burbank Community Hospital, the same hospital where she would later give birth to her youngest child Stanley in 1981. After moving to Hemet in 1982 as a single mother of 6 children Susan continued her work as a registered nurse at Hemet Hospital up until her retirement in the late 1980’s.

In 1990 Susan remarried to the love of her life Edward A. Stinson, a decorated U.S. Air Force veteran who served in WWII, the Korean War, & whose family had an illustrious history in designing and building wartime fighter planes. Together they welcomed their youngest son Maxwell Edward Stinson to the family, and shortly thereafter Susan came out of retirement to pursue her lifelong dream of operating and managing a bookstore, The Book Exchange in Hemet. Over a decade later in the early 2000’s after the Book Exchange closed, she began working as a Caregiver for Home Instead in-home senior care in Hemet, before permanently retiring around 2010. Susan loved to travel, she loved people & socializing, she loved to read (mainly romance novels and fictional thrillers), and most of all she loved being close & spending time with her family, her friends, and her dog & companion Little Lady. Susan was an incredibly strong & spirited woman who marched to the beat of her own drum, had an indelible smile, an infectious laugh, & welcomed & befriended everyone she encountered.

Susan is preceded in death by her parents Maurice and Dolly, her husband Edward, her oldest sons Christopher Markland & Timothy Best, her sisters Deanna Hall & Arlene Williams, and her nephews Randy Poulson & John Hall. She is survived by sons Kevinn DeMarco, Tony DeMarco, Stanley DeMarco, Maxwell Stinson, daughter Gennine DeMarco, nephew Steven Paislee, nieces Julie Adreon, Vicki Madrigal, Amanda Rhodes Hall, grandchildren Phillip Markland, Amber Yates, Tony & Dylan DeMarco, Brandon Best, and numerous great grandchildren. All kind thoughts & love through prayer are appreciated as we honor the transition of this beautiful and loving matriarch.
