Virginia Mae Goorsky

Virginia was born on a spring day, April 22, 1924 to John G. Hultman and Clara B. (Vogel) Hultman in Wausa, Nebraska.  She was raised as your typical Midwest farm girl, doing chores, helping in the kitchen, learning to sew, and tending to the livestock.  She was a member of the local 4-H club raising calves and taking them to the local fair.

She completed high school and was engaged to a local boy who was killed in the war.  She later began corresponding with a young man in the service by the name of Wilbert Earl Goorsky.  They corresponded by mail for months and months.  When on leave he came to Wausa to meet Miss Virginia and fell in love as he asked her father for permission to marry his only daughter.  They married September 29, 1944 in a small ceremony before family and friends.  They packed up and moved to Chicago where they began their life together.  Wil became a police officer for the City of Chicago, and they began the task of starting a family.  They were blessed with 4 children, John, Dennis, Dawn and Jeffery.  Unfortunately Wil became ill and passed away in 1967 and Virginia was left a widow.  Virginia eventually moved out west to California with her youngest son, Jeffery in 1975.  For a time Virginia’s mother Clara lived with her until her passing in 1999 just shy of her 108th birthday.  Virginia was a long time member of the Hemet Woman’s Club and President of the Homeowners Association at American Village, her home since 2004.  She was also an active and proud member of her church, Spirit of Joy in Hemet.

Virginia will be very much missed by her friends, especially the “back row ladies” as well as her family, John (Beverly) Goorsky, Lakewood, Illinois, Dennis (Denise) Goorsky, Arlington Heights, Illinois, Dawn (Richard) Chelotti, Clare, Michigan, Jeffery (Cyndi) Goorsky, Hemet, California.

She is also survived by 10 grand-children and 17 great-grand-children.
